Project Developer

I started in construction when I was 16 years old working on projects for friends and family - the only ones who would let me at that time! I learned a lot from those experiences, and this cemented my love for the construction industry. I was hired by a great company, Schelp Construction, when I was 20 years old. While working for Schelp Construction, I learned to become a great carpenter. In 2014 I decided to start my own remodeling company and continued getting better at my trade. While I worked my business, I found a love for the design side of the remodeling industry. It wasn’t long before I knew that architectural design was something that I wanted to pursue full time. When I came across an opportunity at Scovell I decided to take the leap. I was very impressed with how organized Scovell is and was blown away by the hiring process. I am happy they invited me to join the team and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

I graduated early from Lee’s Summit North High School and attended the Herndon Career Center while in high school earning a construction trade certificate. I have been married for 23 years and we have raised 2 wonderful children who are both now adults that we could not be prouder of. In my free time I love to play the guitar, a little banjo, as well as the ukulele. I am a die-hard Chiefs fan for life!

What is your favorite kind of project to work on?

My favorite projects to work on are kitchen, baths, and basements. Kitchens and baths are challenging to fit all the clients’ needs/wants into an existing space, and I like to rise to the challenge. Basements are like a blank canvas and I am the artist where I can be free to develop the best designs.

What do you love about your work here at Scovell?

What I love about Scovell is the team atmosphere. The systems and methods are so well thought out and it truly helps get everyone on the same page. And, I am excited for the opportunity to cross over to the design side late in my career.
