Describe your part in the design process.

I document and detail the existing and proposed remodel plans. I create the floor plans, renderings, and elevations reflective of each client’s selections and design. Once it’s time to move into production, I work through all the technical details of our plan sets including construction drawings.

What is your favorite kind of project to work on?

Personally, my favorite projects are additions. While they are by far the most challenging to develop, the scale of them also gives me the most pride and awe as I see them come to life in the field.

Why chief architect?

With Chief, we’re able to produce detailed, precise 2D drawings and measurements as well as 3D rendering to help the client (and our team) really envision the proposed design and bring their finishes and selections to life. It is robust enough without being overly complicated or cumbersome.

What do you love about your work here at Scovell?

The specialization! I think Scovell is particularly effective at having people in the right seats. At every phase, the person who is the strongest at a particular skill is filling that role. Whether it’s design, carpentry, management or sales, the person who is the best at that skill is doing that work! This specialization allows for really strong collaboration with the Design and Production teams throughout the process.
